Pre-School Music Group– Ages 3-5 – 1 Hour Lesson – Max: 6 students
Our preschool music program is a fun, interactive group program for children ages 3-5. In this class they learn the fundamentals of music including rhythm, melody, notation and an introduction to orchestral instruments. Also, we are the only School that the Pre-K students also perform during our School Recitals. Our school provides 2 Pre-K Music levels with additional learning as the students’ progresses:
Level 1 - Students learn the rhythm component by doing fun games with rhythm sticks, triangles, shakers, hand drums, etc. For the melody component they learn the concepts through lots of singing. They will learn high – low, loud – soft, pitch, major – minor, etc. Movement, exploration and learn to rhyme and sing in unison.
Level 2- Students will step up and learn a more notation. They learn how to recognize musical symbols such as tremble clef, bass clef, half note, whole note, and will be able to recognize all the notes in music. We also teach them how to recognize all the instruments of the orchestra both by sight and sound. For example, by the end of the program they can quickly tell you if the sound they hear is a trumpet or saxophone.
Our preschool music program prepares students to go on into private instrument lessons for when they are older. Many studies have shown a direct correlation between exposure to music at this age and a facility of learning. A study conducted at the University of California: “Music Lessons appear to strengthen the links between brain neuron and build new neural bridges needed for good spatial reasoning, says psychologist Frances Rauscher. Her study compared 19 preschoolers who took lessons and 14 classmates not enrolled in music programs. After 18 months, she found a 46% boost in spatial IQs or the young musicians and only 6% improvement for children not taught music at that age.” USA TODAY.
