What They Say

Mrs. Foessett is a great piano teacher because she makes each class dynamic, fun, unique, and most of all motivates the child to want to learn about music. Savanna, my daughter is very excited and proud that she now can play her first song and already she is working on her second song after 2 months of piano instructions from Ms. Foessett. I am very happy to have found Charlotte Music School. “

“Our son, Nathan has been in lessons in Charlotte Music School for over a year. We appreciate the teacher's patience as he attempts to balance several extracurricular activities. We also appreciate the teacher's energy and enthusiasm, which is contagious! We appreciate the creativity brought to piano activities which keep him interested and more motivated.  This is the third piano teacher Nathan has had and definitely the best--it has worked better than when teachers came to our home, surprisingly. We hope as he grows older he continues to stay involved in this positive experience.

"I took piano lessons from Helen for about 7 years. She not only taught me how to read notes and play piano, but she also showed me how to express myself through my love of music. I always looked forward to my piano lessons because she always gave me the freedom to learn new songs of my choosing, while still giving me a challenge by taking on harder and more complex pieces. In my years as her student, Helen was not only my instructor, but also became my mentor and a true friend. Although I am away at medical school and am no longer able to take lessons, Helen has instilled in me a lifelong love for piano that will always be a part of who I am."

“ Our son Keshav have been taking lessons for almost 5 years now. Keshav has had 3 different piano teachers in the past, and enjoys Ms. Helen's enthusiasm in teaching music the best.  Ms. Helen's has an extensive background in teaching as well as learning music.  He has also developed the confidence to play music in public. His favorite composer is Beethoven. I have noticed during recitals, the standard and level of music she parts to the students, is fair and cohesive.  As a parent, we are delighted that my son has a great opportunity to learn from Ms. Foessett.”  Durure & Smita Shah – Parents of Keshav – Age 8

“My 12 year old son has been taking piano lessons from Miss Helen for almost one year and has loved every part about them.  He loves the challenge of learning new musical selections, the guidance from Miss Helen, and the performance opportunities.  As a parent, I have found Miss Helen to be wonderful with my children – both encouraging and fun while pushing them to grow faster and faster.  It has been wonderful to see my son learn to appreciate all types of music.  It is always interesting to see what his next song to learn to play will be as Miss Helen lets him select the pieces that interest him.  We have been thrilled with all that Miss Helen has to offer and look forward to watching music become an important part of our children’s lives!!”  Dale Cusumano Parent of Student – Alex – Age 12

“I have been attempting to learn to play the piano for several years, but seem not to get very far, for one reason or another.   I have been taking piano lessons at Charlotte Music School for only a few months.  But, since taking lessons from Helen, I feel as if I am finally learning; it is actually starting to make sense in my head!  When I first came into Helen’s studio, everything was all light and bright and fun and she was welcoming me with smiles.  I am describing the way it felt to me, inside.  Helen lets us pick what songs/ music we want to learn to play and then she teaches us what we have chosen.  She also teaches us from our books. The School’s newsletters are very informative and the recitals are good.   We give recitals at retirement homes and so that is great to me because I believe that that is my calling from God, to minister to the older and much forgotten people, with music.  Music truly soothes the soul.  It does mine, for when I am playing my music, everything else just goes away and I am happy in my music.”

“I like to take lessons here because my grandma really liked my recital. I also liked my recital and I learned how to play Supercalifragilisticexpialicoious from the movie Mary Poppins and it is my favorite song. Once I was on a field trip with my school at “The Pines” senior home and I was able to play the piano for them right there. I was the only one in my class that did that. “

“I am so thankful for have found Charlotte Music School.  I can't even begin to tell you how much my son Joshua has learned in his music lessons there during this past year. After taking piano lessons previously with two other teachers who play the piano very well, but had no idea how to teach children, my son Joshua stopped taking lessons for almost a year. He claimed he hated the piano and didn't want lessons anymore. After coming to Charlotte Music School he has begun to enjoy playing the piano again. Miss Helen's love and passion for music is passed on to her students in a way that goes beyond what any parent can expect. Music becomes part of who they are. I appreciate her for being part of Joshua's life.”  Delsie Herrera – Parent of 1 Student – Joshua – Age 11 – Awarded Student of the Month May 2009
