FRED DUNLAP III hails from Sanford, NC and has called many locations "home" due to being a military dependent. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Fayetteville State University and a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Mississippi. His professional experience began with many of the regional orchestras and theaters of North Carolina. When he relocated to Mississippi in 2010 he played with notable regional acts such as Garry Burnside, The Legit Jazz Sextet, The Bill Perry Trio and Cadillac Funk.

     He returned to North Carolina in August of 2012 and is an Adjunct Professor at Johnson C Smith University and a music educator for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He actively freelances in the classical and contemporary percussion world, and is the founder of the Pocket ProTechTours music education organization.
