Originally from Peachtree City, GA, Nicholas most recently received a Professional Artist Certificate in 2018 from the University Of North Carolina School of the Arts under the instructions of Dr. Mark Norman. While his main instrument is tuba, he has also taught and performed on euphonium, tenor trombone, and bass trombone. Nicholas studied music performance at Columbus State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in 2013. In 2015, he graduated with his Master’s degree in music performance from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where he also won the Concerto competition that year playing Richard Strauss’s Horn Concerto No. 1, Opus 11. Nicholas has been teaching for 12 years and has experience teaching in settings ranging from chamber groups and large brass ensembles to acting as a brass tech for marching band. He is actively freelancing as a professional player and teacher in the Winston-Salem area.
